Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and inspiring leader to join our team as the Head of Department for Science. This key leadership role involves guiding curriculum excellence, fostering superior teaching methods, and promoting continuous enhancement of the science department's performance.
School Context
Woodridge State High School serves a diverse community of approximately 1400 students from over 60 cultural backgrounds in the multicultural Logan region. Emphasizing community values and inclusivity, the school prides itself on empowering students through education to make informed decisions about their futures and the wider world.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership by developing and advocating a shared educational mission that emphasizes excellence, fairness, and exceptional student outcomes within the science department.
- Encourage a culture of high expectations and inclusivity by integrating socially equitable practices, supporting student wellbeing, and encouraging high performance among staff and students.
- Promote continual professional growth and teamwork by facilitating lifelong learning, supporting staff development, and nurturing productive partnerships with students, families, government bodies, and the community.
- Ensure strong governance and compliance by adhering to relevant laws, policies, and educational standards, promoting effective educational practices and positive results.
- Oversee departmental management including strategic planning and resource allocation of human, financial, curricular, and physical assets to meet department goals and drive ongoing improvements.
Additional Information
This full-time temporary appointment is expected to continue until 11 December 2026 unless otherwise decided.
