Guest Services Casual Position at Waiheke Backpackers Hostel

Position Overview

Join Auckland Council’s Parks & Community Service team as a casual Guest Services staff member working at the scenic Waiheke Backpackers Hostel, situated above Onetangi Beach. This role involves providing excellent customer service and supporting the daily operations of the hostel, ensuring that guests enjoy a welcoming and memorable stay.

Key Duties

• Deliver front-of-house customer service and reception activities
• Manage guest bookings, registrations, and related communications
• Handle payments and cash accurately
• Respond promptly to telephone and email inquiries
• Carry out housekeeping tasks as needed

Candidate Profile

• Positive, enthusiastic approach with strong customer focus
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
• Flexible availability including weekends, public holidays, and the busy summer season
• Computer skills and experience in administration, reception, and cash handling
• Excellent communication abilities and problem-solving skills
• Good physical fitness, strong work ethic, and a sense of humor

Additional Details

The hostel operates year-round, and work hours may increase during peak periods. This is a casual position commencing immediately with pay at $28.95 per hour.
