General Duty Nurse (N2) - Neurosurgery Clinic

Position Overview

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Neurosurgery Clinic at the Health Sciences Centre. This role involves delivering professional nursing care to patients with complex and unpredictable health conditions. The RN will operate under the general supervision of the Manager, Health Services, providing independent nursing interventions, coordinating patient care and discharge, and contributing leadership within the healthcare team. Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing services including administration of prescribed treatments.
• Facilitate coordination of patient care and discharge planning within the neurosurgery department.
• Assume a leadership role within the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Registered Nurse graduate from an accredited program.
• Maintain active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in medicine or surgery nursing.
• Preferred experience includes using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) such as Accuro, 6 months ambulatory care in the last 2 years, and 2 years in neurosurgery.
• Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification as per employer policy.
• Knowledge of CRNM standards, Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics, and relevant legislation including the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), PHIA, and related acts.
• Understanding of policies, protocols, and guidelines relevant to the clinical setting.
• Proficient computer skills including Windows OS and common office applications.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with Indigenous languages and cultural knowledge is an asset.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, multitasking, and stress management capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within the healthcare team.
• Physical ability to undertake moderate to heavy effort required in the role.

Additional Information

• Term position with anticipated start ASAP and ending March 20, 2027.
• Part-time employment at 0.50 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) with 7.75 hours per day expected, totaling 2015 annual hours.
• Work is conducted onsite during day shifts.
• Successful candidates must provide valid criminal and abuse registry checks, with associated cost borne by the employee.
