Core Clinical Fellow in General Surgery (ST1-2 Equivalent)

Job Overview

We invite applications for a Core Clinical Fellow position in General Surgery at Wexham Park Hospital. This opportunity suits doctors at Resident Doctor level (formerly SHO), including FY2, FY3, or ST1-2 equivalents, especially those seeking a rewarding and well-supported F3 year.

You will be welcomed into a progressive and supportive General Surgery team in a busy hospital environment, gaining exposure across a wide array of acute and elective surgical procedures. This role will enhance your clinical confidence within a nurturing setting.

As an integral team member, your responsibilities will encompass ward management, handling acute admissions, outpatient care, and participating in the on-call rota. You will also have valuable chances to attend theatre sessions and develop procedural skills.

Main Responsibilities

• Collaborate with consultants and registrars to manage general surgery inpatients at Wexham Park Hospital.
• Participate in clinics, diagnostic lists, and theatre lists.
• Engage in a full shift rota averaging 1:7 to cover both urology and general surgery.
• Operate under consultant supervision with an educational plan to advance clinical knowledge, skills, teaching, quality improvement, and leadership capabilities.

Education and Professional Requirements

• MB BS degree or equivalent qualification.
• Registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).
• Completion of foundation programme training (including FY2) or equivalent.

• Capability to explain treatment options clearly to patients.
