Funded Traineeship Opportunity for Young Graduates at EU Delegation Singapore - Political, Press and Information Section

Overview

The EU Delegation in Singapore is offering a fully funded traineeship for recent graduates interested in international relations. This traineeship lasts up to six months starting June 2026 and provides insight into how the EU represents its interests and values in Singapore through its Political, Press and Information Section (PPI).

Scope of Work

• Monitor and report on political and security developments in Singapore and the wider ASEAN and Indo-Pacific regions.
• Assist with activities related to EU bilateral cooperation agreements with Singapore and participate in associated outreach efforts.
• Conduct research and create briefing papers on various policy topics.
• Support the organization and execution of visits by high-level EU officials, meetings, and public diplomacy events hosted by the Delegation.
• Attend regional conferences, seminars, and lectures, providing reports on relevant developments.
• Prepare meeting minutes and contribute to the drafting of official reports.
• Help with the compilation of the Delegation’s daily press reviews.
• Assist in managing the Delegation’s social media presence across platforms such as X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.

Qualifications and Skills

• A solid understanding of EU institutions and their policies.
• Strong motivation to learn, teamwork skills, and great attention to detail.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Familiarity with social media platforms is beneficial.
• Candidates must have less than 12 months of professional experience following graduation, excluding internships, student jobs, or volunteer work during or after university.

Desired Additional Attributes

• Academic background in political/social sciences or international relations, or demonstrated expertise in these areas.
• Knowledge about Singapore and the ASEAN/Indo-Pacific regions.
• Understanding of international trade and economic topics.
• Legal or economic studies background is an advantage.

Additional Information and Conditions

• The deadline for applications is April 30, 2026, at 5:00 PM Singapore time.
• Selected trainees will receive a monthly grant to assist with living expenses. However, travel, visa, insurance, and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the trainee.
• Applicants must meet eligibility criteria under the official paid traineeship regulations (Article 8 of Decision ADMIN(2017)28).
• Traineeships are subject to compliance with laws of both local and home countries.
• EU citizens must prove pandemic risk coverage and repatriation costs and hold appropriate visas or residence permits as required.
