About the Role
An international client in the oil and gas sector located in Houston is looking to fill a contract role for a University Relations Specialist. This position backs up an existing team member and plays a key operational and logistical role supporting university recruiting programs and internship initiatives. It suits a detail-oriented professional with at least one year of university relations experience, who enjoys working in a collaborative and fast-moving team.
Primary Duties
- Support recruiting efforts at universities, including all phases from pre-recruiting to post-campus activity.
- Arrange all logistics for career fairs and recruitment events such as shipping, packaging, tracking, and returns of materials, ensuring branding standards are met.
- Manage recruitment events and interview schedules via platforms like Yello.
- Develop and sustain relationships with universities, student groups, and campus partners.
- Coordinate travel, lodging, interviews, and expense reimbursements for candidates.
- Oversee candidate tracking and application distribution systems.
- Assist University Relations Advisors and collaborate with program leadership.
- Help organize the summer intern program covering onboarding, project coordination, mentorship, events, presentations, evaluations, and offer procedures.
- Manage vendor relations, invoicing, and budget tracking for university relations activities.
- Maintain the inventory of promotional materials and giveaways.
- Monitor campus participation and report on recruiting metrics monthly and quarterly.
- Ensure recruiting complies with hiring and Affirmative Action policies.
Work Environment
The team is highly collaborative and energetic with a strong culture. The role includes hybrid work, with Monday and Friday remote and other days onsite in Houston. It demands excellent organization, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
Qualifications and Preferences
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related discipline preferred.
- At minimum, two years of professional experience with at least one year focused on university recruiting or relations.
- Experience supporting university advising or relations teams is a plus.
- Strong communication and organizational abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
- Experience with recruiting and event management software, especially Yello and Handshake.
- Knowledge of Workday applicant tracking system is advantageous.
- Capable of juggling multiple priorities and collaborating across functions.
Additional Information and Requirements
- Candidate must be ready to start immediately.
- Passing a hair follicle drug test is mandatory.
- Work schedule includes hybrid setup: Monday and Friday work from home, other weekdays onsite.
- Previous event and workday planning experience is beneficial.
