Role Summary

We seek a Financial Controller to join our team supporting multiple restaurant clients. This pivotal role involves hands-on accounting leadership, partnering with business owners to ensure financial clarity, operational efficiency, and long-term strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted financial advisor to various restaurant presidents, adapting insights to operational needs.
• Utilize experience in food service and retail operations to provide expertise in cost control, margin analysis, vendor management, and inventory forecasting.
• Translate complex financial information into clear strategic recommendations.
• Manage comprehensive accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and payroll.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closings, handling reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, and deferred revenue.
• Supervise inventory accounting and product costing to ensure accuracy and minimize losses.
• Maintain a 13-week cash flow forecast and suggest improvements for working capital optimization.
• Prepare trial balances, variance reports, and financial dashboards using platforms like OneStream.
• Collaborate on budgeting, quarterly planning, and strategic initiatives with leadership.
• Provide key performance indicators including food cost percentage, labor cost percentage, sales per square foot, and margin analysis.
• Identify and implement enhancements in accounting systems, point-of-sale integrations, and reporting processes.
• Develop and document internal financial controls appropriate for restaurant and retail contexts.
• Streamline inventory management across locations, tracking perishables and seasonal fluctuations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA credential preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Controller or senior accountant.
• Demonstrated expertise in restaurant accounting, especially within multi-location environments.
• Experience with small to medium-sized businesses; fractional or outsourced accounting background advantageous.
• Comfortable working in remote, fast-paced settings and adept with technology.
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online, POS systems, and Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP accounting standards.
