About Teamshares and the Role
Teamshares stands as one of America's leading acquirers of small businesses from retiring owners, aiming to transform employee ownership into the future model for small enterprises. The company acquires promising firms from retiring entrepreneurs, immediately granting employees a 10% stake and aiding their growth with proprietary software, financial solutions, education, and leadership support. The goal is to establish a network of 10,000 employee-owned small businesses, generating $10 billion in wealth for workers and ensuring prosperous retirements for owners—all while reducing wealth inequality and sustaining essential community businesses.
We seek an entrepreneurial leader to take the helm as Small Business President/CEO for one of our network companies located in Portland, Oregon, operating in the mechanical and electrical services sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the small business as its president, overseeing all facets of the mechanical and electrical services operations.
- Own comprehensive responsibility for business strategy, operations, and profit and loss management.
- Guide and collaborate with a skilled team of existing employee owners.
- Partner closely with the bookkeeper to inform financial decisions on expenses and capital investments, optimizing efficiency and developing key business metrics.
- Direct outbound sales initiatives, targeting project and bid-based opportunities, and expand business-to-business client accounts.
- Manage all human resources functions including conflict resolution, performance evaluations, and administering raises and bonuses.
- Evaluate current business operations and identify growth and development opportunities for the team.
- Engage deeply with the local community and foster robust relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners.
- Lead and support the transition to employee ownership alongside Teamshares and shareholders, cultivating an ownership mentality that enhances company culture and business outcomes.
- Execute growth strategies by collaborating with employee-owners to refine operations and increase revenue streams.
Desired Qualifications and Attributes
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and managing a measurable, repeatable sales process with a track record of consistent revenue growth driven by data analysis.
- Relevant experience or knowledge in mechanical and electrical services, light manufacturing, maintenance and repair, distribution, or construction-related industries.
- Strong aptitude for building enduring, trust-based relationships within the community and among customers and vendors through genuine and professional engagement.
- Excellent prioritization and delegation skills to efficiently address urgent issues without losing sight of long-term goals.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities to promote teamwork and problem solving across all employees.
- Proven leadership experience displaying interpersonal skills and a collaborative, low-ego approach.
- An entrepreneurial mindset paired with a drive for innovation and growth.
- Competence in project management and problem-solving with a hands-on, determined attitude.
- Solid business insights to analyze financials and formulate strategic plans.
- A growth-oriented outlook, embracing new ideas, learning from errors, and encouraging innovation.
- Adaptable and creative thinking skills with a proactive and flexible spirit.
- Ability to partner effectively with stakeholders to set a clear vision, define performance indicators, and implement strategies to meet financial objectives.
Compensation and Benefits
- Ownership equity in both the network company and Teamshares.
- Competitive salary package with comprehensive benefits.
- Continual business and leadership development opportunities throughout tenure.
- Access to premium medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
- Paid parental leave.
