Overview

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for the position of Early Childhood Educator 2 within the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center. This role serves as the Head Teacher at the UNLV/CSUN Preschool, focusing on the comprehensive development of young children through knowledge of various developmental domains including physical, social, emotional, cognitive, linguistic, and general learning competencies.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead teaching efforts by applying effective instructional methods that cover all developmental areas of early childhood.
  • Create and manage stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments that promote play-based learning.
  • Utilize observation and assessment tools for monitoring child development and inform planning.
  • Handle emergency protocols and uphold ethical standards crucial to daily operations.
  • Design and implement curricula and activity schedules addressing children's learning across developmental domains.
  • Respond constructively to children's behavior and emotional needs, employing appropriate guidance strategies.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and families to discuss child progress, including participation in parent-teacher conferences.
  • Support inclusion by accommodating children with disabilities or special needs and working with diverse families to ensure all children feel a sense of belonging.
  • Conduct practice emergency drills and ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Assist in providing practical teaching experience for future educators.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in education, early childhood education, or a closely related field plus two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma with three years’ applicable experience; or one year of Early Childhood Educator I experience within Nevada State service; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood or related field and at least two years of early childhood experience preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary is set at $50,153.76 annually (Grade 29 Step 1).
