Position Overview

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for the role of Early Childhood Educator 2 to serve as Head Teacher at the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center. The incumbent will work at the UNLV/CSUN Preschool, contributing to a supportive learning environment that fosters development across multiple child growth domains including physical, social, emotional, cognitive, linguistic, and general competencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and plan activities that stimulate learning and development in early childhood, addressing all developmental areas.
• Utilize teaching strategies suited for young children’s learning and developmental needs.
• Design and organize learning centers that encourage play-based and experiential learning.
• Conduct observations and use assessment tools to collect and interpret information relevant to child development.
• Follow emergency procedures and ethical standards applicable to the educational setting.
• Create and maintain effective, age-appropriate indoor and outdoor learning spaces.
• Respond constructively to children’s behavioral, developmental, or emotional challenges.
• Assist with curricular contributions and learning environment setup to ensure comprehensive development.
• Collaborate with supervisors and families through communication and meetings such as parent-teacher conferences.
• Support inclusion and belonging for children and families from diverse backgrounds and with disabilities or special needs.
• Lead emergency drills to prepare children and maintain safety.
• Provide mentorship and practical experiences for future educators.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field accompanied by two years of relevant teaching experience in group settings including curriculum implementation and child assessment; OR
• High school diploma or equivalent with three years of similar experience; OR
• One year of experience as an Early Childhood Educator I within Nevada State service; OR
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood or related domains.
• At least two years’ experience working in early childhood environments.

Salary and Benefits
