Candidate profile
The role calls for a background in business administration, marketing, hotel and restaurant management, or a similar field. Candidates should bring either a 2-year degree with 3 years of relevant sales and marketing experience, or a 4-year bachelor’s degree with 1 year of relevant sales and marketing experience.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the sales leader to understand the sales plan and put it into action for the assigned segment.
- Work with the management team to build and execute a segment sales plan focused on revenue, customers, and market coverage.
- Support the creation and rollout of internal and external promotional activities.
- Drive revenue performance by setting a strong example through personal booking targets and guiding booking goals for team members.
- Oversee the daily work of direct reports and ensure smooth execution of sales operations.
- Approve catering space release in the absence of a Business Evaluation Manager to help optimize revenue.
- Join sales calls with team members to win new business and close opportunities.
- Handle the operational side of booked business, including proposals, contracts, and customer communications.
- Review market data through sales systems and apply insights to meet room and catering financial targets.
- Assist Revenue Management with preparing accurate six-period forecasts.
- Evaluate sales and catering guest satisfaction results and identify improvement areas.
- Lead guest service efforts by setting a strong example in hospitality and customer care.
- Collect feedback from guests on product quality and service delivery.
- Meet guests before and after events to review product quality, service levels, contract execution, and overall satisfaction.
- Enable team members to deliver outstanding service and provide coaching based on observed behaviors.
- Include guest satisfaction in department discussions and use it to drive continuous improvement.
- Deliver service aligned with company customer service standards and property brand standards.
- Practice the brand’s daily service basics and help create memorable customer experiences.
- Understand guest needs, recommend suitable features and services, and build loyalty through excellent service.
- Learn the property’s target customer profile and business expectations in order to recommend better solutions before and during events.
- Build and maintain relationships with important internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate with off-property sales teams such as the Event Booking Center, Market Sales, and GSO so efforts remain aligned and non-duplicative.
- Work with Human Resources, Engineering, and Loss Prevention to support compliance with local, state, federal, and union requirements where applicable.
- Represent the property at customer events, trade shows, and sales missions to strengthen relationships with GSO managers and clients.
- Interview and hire management and hourly employees with the right skills for the business.
- Use available on-the-job training tools to support employee development.
Requirements
- 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related discipline, plus 3 years of experience in sales and marketing or a similar professional area; or
- 4-year bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related discipline, plus 1 year of experience in sales and marketing or a similar professional area.
- Ability to lead sales strategy execution and manage day-to-day sales operations.
- Experience in revenue-focused sales planning, forecasting, and reporting.
- Strong customer relationship management and hospitality service orientation.
- Capability to coordinate with cross-functional teams and external sales channels.
- Understanding of hiring, coaching, and training practices for teams.
