Role overview

The Director of Marketing Communications leads the hotel’s communication strategy and oversees the planning, execution, and coordination of all communication efforts, with a strong focus on public relations. The role is designed to strengthen the hotel’s premium brand image while supporting revenue growth.

Key responsibilities

This position manages marketing communications, public relations, advertising, direct marketing, and collateral production. It also supports brand consistency, media relations, creative execution, and communication planning across internal and external channels.

Marketing communications duties

  • Create yearly communication plans with clear objectives and budgets aligned to the hotel marketing plan.
  • Develop action plans to meet targets and keep the communications team updated on priorities and progress.
  • Review performance against objectives regularly and introduce corrective measures when needed.
  • Support planning and execution of mailing activities.
  • Keep the corporate identity guidelines current and ensure they are followed appropriately.
  • Prepare the monthly sales and marketing communications report on time.
  • Oversee photography for advertising, collateral, and PR use in coordination with the DOM, agency partners, and corporate field marketing.
  • Maintain a full library of slides, photos, and CDs for advertising, collateral, and PR, and send materials to corporate image libraries as needed.
  • Supervise the hotel’s in-house art department.
  • Track competitor activity and broader industry trends.

Public relations duties

  • Serve as the hotel spokesperson when required and respond to media enquiries within 24 hours.
  • Build and maintain a detailed media contact database using the media account management system.
  • Assign accounts to communications staff where suitable while retaining responsibility for key media relationships.
  • Draft press releases for targeted local, regional, and international media.
  • Collaborate with corporate and international press teams to develop story ideas.
  • Contribute to community relations, government relations, and VIP handling.
  • Identify PR opportunities, manage hotel-sponsored events, and develop partnerships.
  • Plan and deliver press promotion activities.
  • Take part in regional PR office press events and trips when needed.
  • Run press blitzes when appropriate.
  • Keep press kit content complete and up to date.

Advertising duties

  • Partner with the DOM and agency teams on creative and media plans for rooms and food & beverage campaigns.
  • Use the advertising budget effectively while ensuring consistency with sister hotels and group-wide campaigns.
  • Make sure creative output reflects the company brand and delivers a consistent, high-quality message.
  • Review segmentation and marketing reports to align media schedules with target audiences.
  • Monitor media schedules and ensure accounts are settled promptly.

Direct marketing and collateral duties

  • Coordinate direct marketing work so that messaging and visuals remain consistent and polished.
  • Support planning, implementation, and tracking of digital marketing initiatives.
  • Maintain budget discipline across direct marketing efforts.
  • Manage the production of printed materials with agency support and in line with corporate identity standards.
  • Keep hotel information current across internet and intranet platforms.
  • Oversee the quality and production of displays and temporary signage in public areas.
  • Supervise and budget for gift items, ensuring logo use follows brand rules.
  • Manage the in-house graphic designer and/or print shop.

Candidate profile

Applicants should either have a high school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or a related professional area; or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major, along with 2 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related area.
