Deputy Operations Director - Family and Clinical Support Services Division

About the Role

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for an experienced senior leader to fill the role of Deputy Operations Director within their Family and Clinical Support Services (FCSS) Division. This prominent operational leadership position oversees services employing around 1,900 staff and managing a £100 million annual budget. The role involves close collaboration with Operations Director, Clinical Directors, Clinical Matrons, and Operational Service Managers to ensure the consistent delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality healthcare services across multiple hospital sites.

Responsibilities

As a key member of the divisional leadership team, the Deputy Operations Director supports the strategic direction of the division, leads operational performance initiatives, and advances national and local healthcare priorities. Key duties include partnership building with clinical and operational colleagues to enhance patient care, workforce development, service improvement, and organizational transformation.

Key Duties

• Provide senior operational leadership within the FCSS Division to maintain safe, effective, patient-centred services.
• Drive operational performance to meet quality, workforce, access, and financial objectives across the division.
• Collaborate with Clinical Directors, Matrons, and Operational Service Managers to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.
• Contribute to the creation and execution of divisional and Trust-wide strategies.
• Lead initiatives for service improvement and transformation to implement sustainable changes.
• Ensure robust governance, risk management, business planning, and performance monitoring procedures.
• Manage resources efficiently to meet divisional goals and ensure value for money.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support service and organizational priorities.
• Act as deputy to the Operations Director when required, including participation in senior management and on-call duties.

The Trust focuses on delivering exceptional care at its three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, and Andover War Memorial Hospital. It serves approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire, and provides specialised services nationally and internationally. Notably, it is one of two UK centres treating pseudomyxoma peritonei and leads in tertiary liver and colorectal cancer care.
