Role overview
Aspiring Dairy is seeking a dependable and driven Dairy Farm Assistant to join its organic dairy operation near Foxton in Manawatū-Whanganui. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who wants to grow their career in dairying while working with an experienced Farm Manager in a supportive team environment.
The farm milks about 680 cows at peak on 290 effective hectares through a modern 60-bail rotary dairy. The business places strong emphasis on animal welfare, pasture performance, team culture, environmental responsibility, and sustainable farming methods.
What you will do
You will be involved in the daily running of the farm and support a wide range of operational tasks, including milk production, animal care, and general property upkeep.
- Carry out milking duties and help maintain high milk quality
- Monitor animal health and welfare, and observe stock closely
- Assist with calving, mating, and young stock management
- Feed stock and support pasture management activities
- Help with effluent systems and environmental compliance requirements
- Support fencing, water supply maintenance, weed control, and general farm repairs
- Operate tractors and other machinery when appropriate
- Keep the workplace safe, organised, and efficient
- Take on additional farm tasks as needed

Who this role suits
This position will suit someone who enjoys outdoor work, works well in a team, and has a practical, can-do attitude. Previous dairy experience is helpful, but it is not mandatory.

- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practice
- Ability to follow farm systems and procedures while using initiative
- Current New Zealand Restricted or Full Driver Licence
- Knowledge of organic dairy farming is helpful, though not essential
