Opportunity Overview
Become a vital member of the Safety and Security team at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, playing a key role in maintaining the safety of Auckland city. This permanent, full-time position entails working 40 hours per week, primarily in a 24/7 rostered shift environment.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the Shift Supervisor to operate and monitor systems including CCTV, access controls, and alarms. Your role will ensure the security of people, venues, and city assets by following established procedures and maintaining calm, effective responses in dynamic situations.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong motivation, keen observation skills, and excellent problem-solving abilities. A deep understanding of security principles, protocols, and technology—especially CCTV and alarm systems—is essential. You will thrive working within a security team environment and uphold high standards of confidentiality, integrity, and ethical behavior.
Required Qualifications and Checks
- Possess a Certificate of Approval (COA) and/or NZQA National Certificate in Security Level 3, or willingness to obtain these qualifications (cost reimbursed upon employment).
- Right to work in New Zealand is mandatory.
- Must provide two favorable references from previous employers.
- Successful clearance of Ministry of Justice (MOJ) background check.
- Pass drug and alcohol testing due to the role's safety-sensitive nature.
- Ability to work shifts, including outside normal business hours, with reliable transportation.
Employment Benefits and Salary
The salary range for this role is NZD 60,000 to NZD 65,000 annually, commensurate with experience and skills (Band D). Auckland Council offers a range of evolving employee benefits through various partnerships.
