Job Overview
The Maintenance Assistant role involves supporting and ensuring quality service delivery to residents, focusing on clean and move-in ready apartments, prompt service requests, and upholding customer satisfaction standards for Cushman & Wakefield.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare apartments to be market-ready by performing tasks including painting, carpet repair, cleaning, general repairs, and housekeeping to ensure a high-quality move-in experience.
- Respond promptly and professionally to residents’ service requests.
- Apply maintenance knowledge in areas such as plumbing, HVAC, basic electrical work, general carpentry, painting, and snow removal where relevant.
- Maintain grounds, pools or hot tubs, common areas, and dog park facilities, ensuring they are clean, functional, and safe for use.
- Report maintenance issues in vacant units, model apartments, and shared areas to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Carry out maintenance tasks as scheduled by supervisors.
- Adhere to fair housing laws at local, state, and federal levels.
- Participate in required training sessions organized by the company.
- Maintain professionalism, dress appropriately according to company standards, and provide excellent customer service at all times.
- Ensure the safety and upkeep of all company tools and equipment.
- Perform any additional related duties as assigned promptly.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Ability to understand and follow policy manuals, safety instructions, maintenance procedures, and operating guidelines.
- Capability to write routine reports and correspondence effectively.
- Use common sense and logical thinking to handle routine problems with multiple variables.
- Hold a valid driver’s license required for the position.
- Competence in basic arithmetic including rates, percentages, and interpretation of bar graphs.
- Adherence to all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Educational background includes a High School Diploma, GED, or technical/trade/vocational education.
- Relevant work experience in maintenance or related fields preferred.
- Possession of EPA 608 minimum Type II, CPO, or local city certification as required.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- This role operates mainly in professional office settings, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
- Frequent travel between properties is required, often outdoors and in various weather conditions.
- The role demands physical activities including walking, climbing stairs, standing or sitting for up to 85% of the work period.
- Ability to exert physical force up to 50 pounds regularly for lifting, pushing, or moving objects.
