Overview
Penske Logistics is searching for an energetic, team-oriented Operations Manager to lead warehouse operations in Houston, TX. The role demands commitment to customer satisfaction, pursuit of excellence, and innovative thinking, with a strong focus on leadership and operational management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to meet and exceed goals in dynamic operational settings while fostering a culture of safety and customer commitment.
- Train, develop, and retain qualified associates, ensuring they understand their roles in relation to business objectives.
- Maintain effective communication that motivates and recognizes team excellence.
- Develop and execute financial and operational plans aligned with business targets, managing resources prudently.
- Ensure daily engagement with customers to understand current and emerging needs and drive continuous improvement in inventory and warehouse operations.
- Monitor performance metrics and financials, making timely adjustments to meet objectives.
- Promote a safety-first culture, proactively identifying and correcting risks and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Identify and capitalize on profitable business opportunities to enhance customer and company value.
- Manage fleet and equipment utilization, maintenance, and fuel efficiency in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Support other tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- 4 to 6 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years managing warehouse personnel in distribution center contexts.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Ability to build relationships with associates and customers across all organizational levels.
- Strong organizational, time management, decision-making, and follow-through abilities.
- Ability to independently solve problems and drive process improvements.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentations and active listening.
- Availability for required attendance, travel, background checks, and drug screening.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform essential duties involving reading, verbal and written communication, memory, and instruction comprehension.
- Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, hand use, reaching, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds (12 kg).
- Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
