Job description
Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated full-time Community Support Worker based in Ohauiti, Tauranga, working 40 hours per week with a remuneration range from $23.97 to $29.68 per hour. Spectrum Care focuses on supporting adults living with intellectual and/or physical disabilities, enabling them to achieve fulfilling lives.
Responsibilities
As a Community Support Worker, your duties will be varied and tailored to the individual's needs and aspirations. This includes helping with personal activities such as engaging in community events, social interactions, educational or work pursuits, and daily living support.
Skills and Experience Required
- Demonstrated empathy toward individuals striving for normalcy while living with disabilities.
- Physical and mental stamina to actively engage with individuals who lead dynamic lifestyles.
- Ability to maintain calmness and provide reassurance in all circumstances.
- Resilience to assist clients in establishing and maintaining safety boundaries.
- Strong negotiation and explanation competencies.
- Effective communication skills with clients, families, and coworkers.
- Willingness and capability to assist in personal care and daily living tasks.
- Proficient verbal and written English communication skills are mandatory.
Preferred Candidate Attributes
- Interest in obtaining or pursuing a Community Support Worker Level Three or higher qualification, with employer-supported training opportunities.
- Previous experience supporting people with disabilities or mental health issues and managing challenging behaviors is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Dependability, dedication, and a passionate approach towards client support.
- Possession of a valid full New Zealand driver’s license.
- Clearance from a New Zealand police background check.
- Competency with computer use, including Microsoft Word, Internet browsing, and email communication.
Visa and Skill Requirements for Non-Residents
- Applicants without New Zealand residency must satisfy Immigration New Zealand Level 3 skill requirements by either having over three years of paid care workforce experience at the required wage rate or possessing at least a NZQCF Level 4 qualification (or a diploma for level 2 roles).
