Job description

Overview

This is a full-time position requiring a 40-hour workweek based in South Auckland. The role offers a salary range from $23.97 to $29.68 per hour, along with a House Leader Allowance. Spectrum Care operates over 100 work sites across Auckland, delivering residential support services to adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities both at home and within their communities. Our 24-hour support service involves a rotating roster covering Monday through Sunday.

Role Summary

The House Leader role integrates hands-on support work with leadership duties. Under the guidance of a Service Coordinator, you will supervise and motivate a home-based support team to ensure delivery of efficient, effective services enabling people to gain self-confidence, independence, and live fulfilling lives in their own communities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of support workers within the residential service.
  • Organize and allocate staff rosters effectively to cover support needs.
  • Maintain effective communication with service users, their families, coordinators, and team members.
  • Engage actively in a variety of activities ranging from sports to community involvement and personal care.
  • Prepare clear, detailed reports as needed.
  • Assist in balancing general ledgers relevant to the service.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in team leadership and staff development.
  • Strong report writing capabilities.
  • Effective rostering and organizational skills.
  • Basic accounting or ledger balancing experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Physical fitness suitable for an active role including sports and personal care activities.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience working with people with disabilities or challenging behaviours.
  • Demonstrated reliability, commitment, and passion for working with people.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Relevant qualifications in care or support fields.
  • Competency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Internet, and email.

Eligibility and Additional Requirements

  • Applicants who are non-residents must meet Immigration New Zealand Level 3 skill requirements: either 3+ years paid care work at care workforce wage rates or hold a relevant NZQCF qualification at level 4 or higher (diploma required for skill level 2 roles).
