Position Overview

Join Midlands Health Network as a District Manager for the Taranaki region in New Plymouth, offering a unique chance to shape primary healthcare's future and promote equitable, high-quality health services for the community.

Role and Responsibilities

Lead strategically and operationally a multidisciplinary team while fostering innovation and collaboration. Develop and strengthen partnerships with general practices, iwi, Hauora Māori providers, Health New Zealand, and community organizations. Support general practices and GP leaders by building trust and driving sustainable, outcome-focused care models. Provide coaching, mentorship, and advocacy to enable healthcare practices to embrace change and flourish.

Candidate Profile

We seek a seasoned leader passionate about primary healthcare with proven skills in relationship building and collaboration across diverse stakeholders. A clinical background is preferred but not mandatory if matched by equivalent health sector leadership experience. The candidate should demonstrate:

  • Values-driven leadership that cultivates team excellence
  • Strong connection and knowledge of the Taranaki community
  • Ability to engage confidently with iwi, Māori health providers, Health NZ, and general practices
  • Commitment to advancing equity and health outcomes, particularly for Māori
  • Commercial insight utilizing data to inform strategies and decisions

  • Mentorship and team development strengths
  • An authentic leadership style promoting positive workplace culture
  • A dedication to incorporate Te Ao Māori principles and growth in Te Reo Māori language skills
