Overview
Barts Health NHS Trust is looking to appoint a Clinical Vascular Scientist on a part-time fixed-term basis (up to 0.8 WTE) at Band 7. This role offers a starting salary range of 38,480 to 39,550 pro rata (full-time equivalent 38,133 65,261) plus an additional retention and recruitment payment (RRP) of 15% of basic salary. The position is based at one of the UK's leading vascular laboratories in London, delivering an advanced and comprehensive ultrasound vascular diagnostics service.
Work Environment & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join a supportive, innovative team delivering a wide spectrum of vascular ultrasound investigations. The department handles a diverse clinical caseload including advanced imaging techniques and specialized patient pathways. Key services the team delivers include transcranial Doppler ultrasonography as part of a national pediatric sickle cell screening program; evaluation of renal artery and kidney transplants; dialysis vascular access assessment and endovascular arteriovenous fistula mapping; diabetic foot vascular assessments including pedal arterial imaging and graft surveillance; urgent vasculitis evaluations particularly for giant cell arteritis (GCA); and routine carotid, peripheral arterial, and venous ultrasound scans.
The primary role involves applying clinical, technical, and scientific expertise to deliver accurate diagnostic tests, interpreting results, and compiling comprehensive reports. The post holder will also assume responsibility for maintaining high standards in diagnostic accuracy and overseeing the training and supervision of staff within the vascular ultrasound service.
