About Girl Scouts of Colorado
The Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO) is a mission-driven organization dedicated to fostering courage, confidence, and character in nearly 15,000 girls and families across the state. Through troop engagement, outdoor adventures, and community connections, GSCO provides leadership development experiences. Supported by a robust network of staff, volunteers, and partners, GSCO is instrumental in cultivating confident and capable leaders. The organization is recognized for its significant community presence and its steadfast commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, offering programs that build resilience, entrepreneurial spirit, and self-assurance. With a respected mission, a strong brand, and a highly engaged board, GSCO is well-positioned for expanded reach and deeper impact.
Position Overview
The Chief Executive Officer will spearhead the strategic and operational direction of Girl Scouts of Colorado, reporting to the Board of Directors. This executive will collaborate closely with the governance body to refine and implement a long-term strategy focused on membership enhancement, revenue diversification, and improved organizational effectiveness. The CEO will also serve as a key representative of GSCO within the broader Girl Scouts of the USA network, contributing to national policies and practices and elevating the organization's profile through active participation in national forums. The incoming CEO will lead a stable and respected organization, with the opportunity to bring enhanced strategic clarity, foster greater alignment between the Board and leadership, and optimize internal structures for increased scale and impact. A primary objective will be to balance external engagement, including fundraising and community outreach, with internal leadership that drives operational excellence, advances organizational culture, develops talent, and reimagines service delivery. Success hinges on the ability to build stakeholder trust, motivate high-performing teams, and achieve measurable outcomes. The CEO will act as the organization's chief ambassador, representing GSCO to corporate, philanthropic, and community sectors throughout Colorado.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive multi-year strategic plan to drive membership growth, revenue expansion, and sustained mission impact.
- Establish a clear organizational vision and ensure alignment among the Board, leadership team, and staff on key priorities and measurable goals.
- Evaluate and enhance organizational structures, systems, and processes to support scalability, accountability, and high performance.
- Cultivate a strong, trust-based partnership with the Board of Directors, ensuring clarity in roles, decision-making, and strategic direction.
- Promote alignment and active engagement across the Board, supporting an effective and forward-thinking governance model.
- Provide transparent, consistent, and forward-looking communications and reports to facilitate informed oversight and decision-making.
- Collaborate with the Board Chair and Executive Committee to make serving on the GSCO Board of Directors a desirable opportunity through high engagement, retention, and positive collaboration.
- Act as the primary ambassador for Girl Scouts of Colorado, strengthening relationships with donors, corporate partners, and community leaders statewide.
- Lead and advance a robust fundraising strategy encompassing major gifts, strategic partnerships, and signature events.
- Increase statewide brand visibility and relevance, enhancing GSCO's presence and impact across diverse communities.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing leadership team, assessing and optimizing team structures for future needs.
- Foster an organizational culture rooted in trust, accountability, inclusivity, and continuous professional development.
- Address potential team fatigue and bolster long-term engagement, cohesion, and sustainability within the staff.
- Implement innovative strategies to expand membership and program accessibility across all communities in the state.
- Attract and engage girls and families from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, cultures, and needs.
- Enhance and adapt volunteer engagement models to align with evolving participation trends.
- Maximize the impact and revenue potential of organizational assets, including camps and program offerings.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience as a CEO or senior executive with comprehensive accountability for organizational strategy, operations, and financial outcomes.
- Proven success in developing and implementing long-term strategic plans that foster growth, scalability, and tangible impact.
