Job description
The Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation (PIRE), a non-profit public health research organization with over 50 years of history and five locations across the United States, is seeking a nationally recognized Chief Executive Officer (CEO). PIRE addresses critical public health issues through a diverse portfolio of grants and contracts, primarily funded by federal, state, and local sources. The ideal candidate will possess proven leadership, research, and executive management expertise. PIRE operates under core principles of inclusivity, beneficence, fairness, respect, transparency, and equality, which guide all its operations and partnerships. The organization's programs are largely investigator-driven. PIRE is currently at a pivotal moment, requiring a CEO to lead infrastructure modernization, enhance multi-center collaboration, diversify funding streams, and ensure long-term sustainability in a dynamic funding landscape. The CEO will work collaboratively with Center Directors and the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), ensuring fiscal responsibility and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include strategic business development, public relations, marketing, fundraising, and networking. The CEO reports to an active Board of Directors, comprising 7 external and 4 internal members, who are responsible for the hiring process. This role offers a significant opportunity to shape the future vision of PIRE and lead the institute forward alongside distinguished scientists and the Board.
