Role Overview

The Buyer/Sourcing Specialist is responsible for managing new product procurement requests, addressing ad hoc sourcing needs, and driving cost-saving initiatives across various commodities. This role involves collaborating with suppliers to optimize purchasing sources, enhance product functionality, reduce costs, and improve delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct strategic sourcing activities for products and suppliers to meet open requests.
  • Support the sales team by responding to technical product inquiries and proposing customer solutions.
  • Ensure prompt responses to customer requests to deliver exceptional service.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, deals, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Identify and leverage opportunities to minimize sourcing expenses, expand product offerings, and add value for clients.
  • Perform regular market and spending analyses to uncover cost savings and improve supplier performance.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships to guarantee quality and cost-efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to grow business opportunities.
  • Manage tender processes and contract negotiations.
  • Work effectively within a skilled and dynamic team to meet organizational objectives.
  • Develop deep knowledge of product portfolio, supplier network, market competition, and customer requirements.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Previous experience in supply chain or sourcing roles is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and supplier selection.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and identify sourcing solutions.
  • Comfortable working on-site in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and administrative capabilities.
  • Aptitude for comprehending technical product information.
  • Exceptional negotiation and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with SAP ERP is highly valued.
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset with strategic thinking ability.
  • Capable of collaborating within and supporting a team environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Experience with industrial supplies, maintenance repair and operations (MRO) parts, critical spares, and electrical components is a significant plus.
