Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographer

Overview

We are inviting applications from passionate and motivated Radiographers holding NHS/UK experience to join our Imaging Directorate, delivering excellent patient care across diverse clinical settings. This directorate operates 24/7 and is in the process of modernising its equipment and facilities. As a Band 5 Radiographer, you will develop a broad clinical skillset by working across various areas and patient pathways. Your role is pivotal in offering safe, quality care to adults, children, and young people within dynamic multidisciplinary teams, demanding strong communication and collaborative abilities. The position requires participation in a flexible seven-day shift system that covers nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

Training and Development

We focus on your professional growth through a structured Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program featuring regular teaching by Advanced Practitioners as well as access to both internal and external educational opportunities. Support from line managers and the Practice & Education Team is provided to advance your career towards Advanced Practice roles such as Fluoroscopy and Plain Film Reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations independently, within scope, seeking guidance when needed.
• Assess patient cooperation and workload demands to optimize service delivery.
• Maintain accurate records and uphold departmental and regulatory protocols (IRR2017, IR(ME)R2017).
• Comply with professional standards set by the Society of Radiographers' Code of Conduct and engage in continuous professional development and service improvement.
• Support the training and supervision of student radiographers and Assistant Practitioners.
• Conduct daily equipment checks, promptly report faults, and participate in quality assurance programs.
• Maintain high levels of infection control, adhering to Trust policies and mandatory training requirements.

Working Environment

This role is physically demanding and may involve exposure to bodily fluids, handling severely injured patients, and managing challenging behaviors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Essential: Qualification leading to BSc Diagnostic Radiography or DCR, including HCPC Registration.
• Desirable: Minimum 2:2 degree classification.
• Essential: Demonstrable up-to-date professional and technical knowledge; NHS or UK work experience.
• Desirable: Broad clinical radiographic experience.
