Job Role Summary
The Investment Review team within Temasek’s Portfolio Strategy & Risk Group performs independent evaluations of investment proposals concerning private and publicly listed companies across multiple sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with investment teams to identify and analyze primary business drivers, due diligence factors, valuation approaches, and associated risks, offering a comprehensive appraisal of investment opportunities.
- Engage actively in the due diligence processes to ensure thorough evaluation.
- Prepare detailed presentations summarizing identified risks and concerns to present to investment teams and committees.
- Examine and develop financial models for company valuations and conduct scenario analyses.
- Contribute to ongoing reviews of existing portfolio companies.
- Take part in ESG-related initiatives, including assessing ESG risks and their impact on investment value.
- Support Assistant Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents with various institutional projects as required.
Candidate Requirements
- A degree in finance, economics, business administration, accounting, or a related quantitative field.
- Between 2 to 3 years of experience in private equity, mergers and acquisitions investment banking, leveraged finance, management consulting focused on corporate finance, or transaction evaluation roles.
- Proven expertise in performing due diligence and constructing comprehensive, integrated financial valuation models.
- International experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong financial modeling capabilities, including designing, coding, and reviewing complex discounted cash flow (DCF) and leveraged buyout (LBO) models.
- In-depth knowledge of various valuation methodologies.
- Ability to rapidly comprehend business models and value drivers across diverse industries and geographical markets.
- Commercially savvy with strong critical thinking skills to evaluate investments holistically.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Maturity and excellent interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues across functions, including origination and execution teams.
- Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate complex information to both peers and senior management.
- Highly motivated, eager to learn, and capable of performing under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Team-oriented mindset prioritizing collective success.
- Fluent English, though native proficiency is not required.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, generating ideas and making sound decisions.
