Role Impact
Within the Securities Strategy team, associates play a critical part supporting trading desks by creating and refining pricing and risk models. These models help interpret market behavior for securities, loans, derivatives, and other intricate financial instruments. The role involves developing quantitative models and analytics that enable traders and management to monitor and control risks effectively. Additional responsibilities include building and maintaining systems that support trade valuation and risk management activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Create pricing models focused on mortgage-backed securities, loans, and derivatives.
- Develop and calibrate statistical credit and prepayment models to estimate default risk, prepayment rates, and loss severity on mortgage and asset-backed securities and loans.
- Build and maintain analytical tools and infrastructure that support daily trading operations, valuation, and risk monitoring.
- Analyze data to produce surveillance reports tracking collateral and transaction performance.
- Collaborate with trading desks to evaluate trading ideas, hedging approaches, and strategies to maximize return on equity.
Candidate Profile
- Strong academic background in fields such as Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Financial Engineering.
- Preferred: At least one year of prior quantitative experience in a front office trading environment.
- Proficient coding skills with hands-on experience in Python; familiarity with Slang is a plus.
- Competent working knowledge of databases and statistical software, particularly SQL.
- Effective team player with excellent communication skills capable of conveying technical information to diverse audiences both orally and in writing.
