Job description

Position Overview

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) seeks an Assistant Professor-in-Residence specializing in Criminal Justice with a focus on policing, police administration, and police wellness. This full-time, on-campus role entails teaching four courses each semester, encompassing undergraduate and graduate levels. The faculty member will also contribute to a forthcoming executive/professional master’s degree program in policing as well as collaborate with the Executive Masters in Crisis and Emergency Management program, supported by designated reassigned time for coordination.

Teaching Format

The candidate must be capable of delivering coursework both in person and through online platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related discipline from an accredited institution recognized by US Department of Education or CHEA.
  • Between one to three years of instructional experience and practical exposure to public safety organizations.
  • All required credentials must be completed before the appointment start date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in emergency management programs.
  • Familiarity with wellness initiatives targeted at emergency responders and/or police personnel.
