About the Position
The Assistant Director of Prospect Management plays a key role in advancing the philanthropic objectives of the OHSU Foundation by managing prospects, tracking progress, and analyzing portfolios for assigned partners. This temporary role runs from August 2026 through January 2027 and offers a remote or hybrid work location.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with assigned gift officers to refine portfolios, enhance prospect pools, and advise on outreach strategies aimed at securing major and transformational gifts.
- Work alongside development officers, leadership, and internal partners to assess portfolio needs and introduce innovative approaches to moves management and fundraising tactics.
- Assist new gift officers in portfolio creation and handle transitions during staffing changes.
- Develop tools to maintain a vibrant prospect pool aligned with unit goals and targets.
- Facilitate individual and group portfolio review meetings and strategic planning sessions.
- Manage the clearance system for prospect approval and oversee monitoring and forecasting of the prospect pool.
- Deliver prompt and accurate service in handling prospect management requests.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all prospect-related data through routine checks.
Candidate Profile
- Customer service oriented with a commitment to understanding and fulfilling stakeholder needs.
- Adept at analyzing diverse information sources to guide prospect strategy and portfolio decisions.
- Strong relationship-building skills with colleagues, faculty, alumni, donors, and volunteers.
- Knowledgeable about development and major gift fundraising and the role of research and prospect management in fundraising success.
- Experienced in gathering, interpreting, and applying data to support fundraising strategies.
- Familiar with multiple screening techniques like data mining, segmentation, and analytics.
Qualifications
- Required: 5-7 years of experience in development research or prospect management, preferably in healthcare, higher education, or a complex nonprofit setting, including major and principal-gift level prospect strategy and research.
- Preferred: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint (advanced skills a plus).
- Experience with relational databases such as Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce Affinaquest.
Working Conditions
- Position supports remote or hybrid work with occasional travel to the foundation’s site.
- May require occasional work beyond traditional hours for meetings or events.
- Extended computer use expected.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary is structured into bands and steps based on experience, proficiency, and performance, ranging from $79,595 to $106,126 annually. Step I provides an entry-level starting salary, with possible eligibility for higher steps depending on experience.
