Job description
Overview
The OHSU Foundation is seeking a temporary Assistant Director of Prospect Management to support philanthropic efforts by managing prospect identification, portfolio tracking, and analysis. The position spans from August 2026 to January 2027 and offers remote or hybrid work options with occasional travel to the OHSU Foundation office.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic collaborator with assigned gift officers to enhance portfolios, expand prospect pools, and suggest outreach methods supporting major and transformational gifts.
- Work alongside development staff and leadership to understand portfolio requirements and develop innovative solutions for moves management and fundraising strategies.
- Develop new portfolios with incoming gift officers and manage portfolio transitions during staffing changes.
- Implement tools to maintain a dynamic prospect pool aligned with assigned unit goals and targets.
- Lead portfolio review meetings both individually and in groups, and coordinate the prospect clearance system.
- Track and forecast prospect pool status, providing timely analysis to optimize portfolios.
- Ensure accurate and prompt completion of prospect management requests while maintaining integrity of prospect-related data through routine checks.
Qualifications
- Required: 5-7 years’ experience in development research or prospect management, ideally in healthcare, higher education, or complex nonprofit environments, including major and principal gift prospect strategy and research.
- Preferred: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with relational databases such as Raiser's Edge or Salesforce Affinaquest.

- Skilled at analyzing and synthesizing diverse data to influence prospect strategies and portfolio decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to cultivate productive relationships with foundation colleagues, faculty, donors, alumni, and volunteers.
- Understanding of development and major gift fundraising supports, with knowledge of screening methodologies, data mining, segmentation, and analytics.
Working Conditions
- Remote or hybrid setting with some travel to the foundation office as needed.
- Occasional work outside standard hours for meetings or events.
- Prolonged computer usage is expected.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary ranges: $79,595 to $92,861 (Step I), $92,861 to $106,126 (Step II), with placement based on experience and internal pay structures.
- Benefits include comprehensive medical and dental coverage, a pension plan with Foundation contributions of 12%, 22 vacation days, 11 holidays, a float holiday, volunteer time off, and professional development funds.
- Additional benefits include hybrid work allowances and summer Friday early closures.
