The Financial Institutions Group (FIG) in Toronto leads market advisory and capital market financing in Canada across sub-sectors such as Insurance, Banking, Asset & Wealth Management, Consumer & Specialty Finance, and FinTech. We assist clients in M&A, strategic alternatives, capital structure advisory, and financing transactions. FIG is highly active in M&A, providing hands-on deal exposure and client coverage development.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and assess financial requirements of corporate clients, including building and maintaining sophisticated financial models.
- Support structuring and execution of transactions, gradually taking on enhanced responsibilities.
- Perform detailed financial and written analyses of companies and industries.
- Contribute actively to client meetings and presentation preparation.
- Conduct research to understand market trends and identify future opportunities.
- Assist in executing mergers and acquisitions, strategic advisory projects, and equity and debt financing deals.
Candidate Requirements
- 1-2 years experience in investment banking, private equity, equity research, corporate development, or advisory roles.
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline from a leading university.
- Strong quantitative aptitude including financial analysis, accounting, and financial theory knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment.
- Demonstrated collaboration, relationship-building, communication skills, integrity, and embracing diversity.
- Proven capability to work effectively in teams and perform under challenging deadlines.
- Well-rounded interests and extracurricular involvement complementing academic achievements.
- Motivation to develop leadership skills and contribute meaningfully within a dynamic team setting.
- CFA, CPA, P.Eng., or relevant professional certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
