Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate after-school mentor in the Dallas, TX area near Southern Methodist University (SMU) to support students in foster care. The ideal candidate will provide guidance and emotional support, plan stimulating activities, assist with homework, and promote academic and personal growth. This role involves monitoring student progress, maintaining communication with families, collaborating with school staff, and fostering a safe, inclusive environment that encourages life skills and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer academic assistance including homework help and positive reinforcement
- Plan and engage students in meaningful extracurricular activities
- Provide emotional support and build trusting relationships with students
- Monitor educational progress and communicate updates to parents or guardians
- Work in partnership with school personnel to ensure a nurturing atmosphere
- Assist students in developing essential life skills and self-reliance

Qualification Requirements
