Role Overview

The Admissions Advisor for online programs is responsible for helping prospective students understand their options, move confidently through the enrollment process, and begin their academic journey with the right support. This position centers on relationship-building, student motivation, and personalized guidance so applicants can choose programs that match their goals. The role also supports enrollment growth and student retention by creating a smooth and welcoming onboarding experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use creative, effective approaches to increase student engagement, commitment, and readiness.
  • Act as the initial contact for prospective students and conduct advising conversations by phone and text to match interests with suitable programs.
  • Offer guidance, encouragement, and helpful resources so students can work through obstacles and stay on track.
  • Reply quickly to questions from prospective students and develop strong, ongoing relationships.
  • Partner with Financial Aid, Student Services, and Academic Advising to support students during their first term.
  • Maintain accurate student inquiry and enrollment records across internal systems.
  • Work toward and surpass individual and team enrollment targets.
  • Take part in team meetings and contribute to discussions around sales strategy.
  • Participate in activities that strengthen student readiness, persistence, and success.
  • Follow all relevant policies, procedures, regulations, and legal requirements tied to higher education enrollment.
  • Represent and advance the institution’s mission and collaborative workplace culture.
  • Attend required training sessions and apply new learning effectively.
  • Complete other duties that help support overall organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • An associate degree is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • A strong student-first approach with a genuine commitment to serving learners from different backgrounds.
  • Clear verbal and written communication abilities.
  • High personal integrity and strong self-drive.
  • Prior experience in admissions, customer service, or consultative sales is preferred.
  • Comfort handling a large volume of phone calls and text messages while remaining seated for extended periods.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and database systems.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and stay effective in a fast-paced setting.
  • Willingness to work weekend hours when needed.
  • Receptiveness to coaching, feedback, and continuous improvement.

Compensation

The starting wage for this role is $21.64 per hour.
