Overview

We are hiring a 12d Traffic Management Operative for the Stanton Harcourt depot. The role is suitable for candidates who can travel from Reading, Swindon, Oxford, Chippenham, Devizes, Cirencester, Bicester, and Banbury.

The team plans and implements road closures, diversion routes, pedestrian walkways, cones, signs, traffic lights, and barriers. Role summary

As a 12d Traffic Management Operative, you will play an important part in delivering safe and efficient traffic management setups. The job involves installing, maintaining, and removing temporary traffic management equipment, supporting traffic counts, maintaining temporary signals, and helping new trainees build confidence in the role.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out traffic counts and share the data with clients and subcontractors to support smooth operations.
  • Inspect, maintain, and keep temporary traffic lights working safely and effectively.
  • Set up, service, and remove traffic management equipment, including cones, signs, frames, sandbags, and related items.
  • Support and mentor new trainees as they learn the role and procedures.

Working pattern

Standard working hours are 40 to 48 hours per week. Although most shifts are daytime-based, you may also need to work evenings, nights, weekends, and away from home during busy periods. The role also includes participation in an on-call rota, especially where a company van is assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification of M1/M2; SLG Unit 2 may also be considered.
  • Working knowledge of Chapter 8 regulations.
  • Full driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Any driving bans must have ended at least 5 years ago.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol screening, with the offer dependent on the result.
  • A positive, practical, can-do attitude.
  • Strong adaptability, flexibility, and close attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work weekends, nights, and away from home when required.
  • Training is subject to signing a training agreement.
  • All offers are also subject to any required medical assessments.
