Chevron, part of Ramudden Global UK, is hiring a Low-Speed Traffic Management Operative in Telford. This position is part of a road safety business that supports roadworks by putting in place temporary closures, diversions, pedestrian routes, and a range of traffic management systems.

Working pattern

Standard working time is 40 to 48 hours per week. Most shifts take place during the day, but the job may also involve evenings, nights, weekends, and working away during busy periods. The role also includes being part of an on-call rota, especially where a company van is available.

Key duties

  • Carry out traffic counts and share information with clients and subcontractors to support smooth delivery.
  • Inspect, maintain, and keep temporary traffic lights working safely and efficiently.
  • Install, manage, and remove temporary traffic management equipment such as cones, signs, frames, sandbags, and related items.
  • Support and mentor new trainees as they learn the role.

Requirements

  • A minimum of M1/M2 is required; SLG Unit 2 may also be considered.
  • Working knowledge of Chapter 8 regulations is essential.
  • Applicants must hold a full driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Any driving ban must have ended at least 5 years ago.
  • Successful completion of a drug and alcohol test is required before an offer can be confirmed.
  • A positive, proactive attitude is expected.
  • The role requires adaptability, flexibility, and strong attention to detail.
  • Candidates must be able to work weekends, nights, and away from home when needed.
  • Traffic management training is subject to signing a training agreement.
