Overview
PlaceMakers Whitianga is seeking a proactive and hands-on Team Leader for the Yard and Drive Thru operations to manage daily activities and lead a team of four. This key role demands leadership in maintaining a safe, productive, and customer-oriented yard environment, ensuring trade and building customers receive efficient and dependable service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering growth and strong teamwork.
- Create and maintain a positive workplace culture oriented towards exceptional service, responsibility, and measurable outcomes.
- Ensure a smooth and effective experience for all trade and building customers.
- Manage inventory accuracy and optimize stock handling processes.
- Enforce Health & Safety standards rigorously across the branch.
- Identify and implement productivity and customer service improvements.
- Support daily yard functions, leading by example in operational duties.
- Build team engagement and cultivate pride in the work delivered.
Candidate Profile
- Prior experience in team leadership or supervisory roles within dynamic and fast-paced settings.
- Strong commitment to customer service excellence and team development.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confident decision-making and effective problem-solving abilities.
- Background in timber, building supplies, trade, warehousing, or logistics is preferred.
- Competent computer and numerical skills.
- Full valid New Zealand Driver Licence.
- Forklift licence or relevant experience desirable.
- High awareness and adherence to Health & Safety protocols.
- Physically fit with a practical approach to hands-on tasks.
Employment Terms and Schedule
This is a permanent full-time position, entailing 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with scheduled Saturdays.
