Sony Pictures Television Studios (SPTS) is a leading global content creator, producing over 50 shows annually across various genres and platforms. As part of Sony Pictures Television and Sony Pictures Entertainment, SPTS boasts acclaimed series such as THE BOYS, THE GOOD DOCTOR, OUTLANDER, and more.
The Social Writer/Producer position combines creative writing, video production, and editing with social media expertise to translate scripted television IP into engaging, platform-specific social content. This role reports directly to the Executive Director of Social Creative and operates at the nexus of storytelling, production, and digital platform trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze scripts, episode edits, and creative materials to uncover social-first narratives and moments that strengthen a show's fanbase.
- Develop, pitch, and bring to life social media concepts that resonate authentically with each series' unique voice and platform ecosystems.
- Create high-quality social video content on set, during press events, and at related activities, collaborating closely with talent and creative teams.
- Conduct compelling on-camera interviews and interactions that reveal personality and insight.
- Handle all aspects of short-form video creation—including writing, producing, shooting, and editing—targeting platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Maintain consistent social brand voice in daily content across numerous series.
- Deliver polished assets swiftly while upholding creative and technical quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with the Social Creative leadership and broader marketing teams to ensure alignment with studio strategy.
- Coordinate with production, publicity, and franchise teams for seamless operations and approvals.
- Monitor content performance and audience engagement to refine creative approaches and future ideas.
- Support key marketing campaigns, premieres, and cultural events with timely and relevant social content.
- Manage organized workflows and asset versioning for multiple concurrent projects.
Candidate Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of experience in social writing, production, or content creation within entertainment, streaming services, digital media, or agencies.
- Proven expertise in conceptualizing, filming, and editing short-form video content end-to-end.
- Strong writing capabilities with a solid grasp of voice, tone, and comedic or emotional timing.
- Direct experience capturing content on set and collaborating with talent.
- In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, trends, content formats, and audience behavior.
- Proficiency with video editing software such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or After Effects.
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple deadlines and projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in live production settings.
- A collaborative approach, open to creative direction while generating original ideas.
- A passion for television, popular culture, and social storytelling.
- Bachelor's degree in Film, Media, Communications, Advertising, or related experience.

Compensation and Equal Opportunity
The expected salary range for this role is $90,000 to $110,000 annually, potentially including incentive plans and comprehensive benefits. Final salary will be based on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, and location.
