Job description

Role Overview

As a Workplace Relations Advisor, you will report directly to the Workplace Relations Manager and serve as a key member of the Workplace Relations team. The team offers specialist advice on employee and industrial relations, devises effective strategies, implements processes, and performs interventions necessary to fulfil the department's obligations under the Enterprise Agreement and relevant Commonwealth legislation.

Key Duties

  • Conduct internal investigations related to suspected breaches of the APS Code of Conduct.
  • Review employment decisions and facilitate conflict resolution for disputes and employee grievances per the Fair Work Act 2009, Public Service Act 1999, applicable regulations, and bureau policies.
  • Manage the Agency’s interactions with unions and provide guidance on change management and consultation obligations to the business units.
  • Offer secretariat support for the Bureau Consultative Committee and other consultative forums.
  • Maintain accurate records, communicate effectively, and prepare detailed data reports.
  • Support capacity building for other APS agencies by promoting and managing the Workplace Relations and Policy Interagency forum.
