Job description
Role Overview
The Waste Management Technician supports the safe and compliant collection, treatment, handling, and final disposal of liquid and hazardous waste at Carnival Corporation-owned and operated destinations. The position is focused on protecting people, property, and the environment by following regulatory rules, internal procedures, and environmental standards.
Key Duties
- Support on-site waste collection and processing activities.
- Handle hazardous and other controlled waste by testing, classifying, bulking, lab packing, and preparing the required shipping paperwork.
- Assist with planning, preparation, and setup for waste-related work or events when needed.
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and help coordinate repairs for electrical, mechanical, and heavy equipment used in the operation.
- Ensure personal protective equipment and safety gear are used correctly at all times.
- Follow all waste disposal, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Escalate issues using the proper reporting channels.
- Prepare written records for inspections, investigations, incidents, and day-to-day waste activities.
- Provide first aid assistance if required.
- Share training support and suggest process improvements where appropriate.
- Carry out other tasks assigned by the Supervisor or designated representative.

Education and Experience
A high school diploma or GED is required, though equivalent practical experience may be accepted. Additional study in hospitality or a related field is considered an advantage. A technical or waste-related certification is required. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in a technical maintenance setting within a hotel or similar industry. Prior relevant work experience is preferred.
Language Requirements
- Conversational fluency in English is required.
- Strong written and spoken communication in English is required.
Physical Requirements
- The role requires good physical fitness.
- Work may involve outdoor conditions.
- Standing for extended periods may be necessary.
Other Requirements
