About the Role
This position involves leading the horseback riding experience at RelaxAway's Half Moon Cay location, delivering memorable equestrian tours to guests. Guided horseback rides traverse scenic trails reaching the island's highest points, offering panoramic views of the cay and surrounding Bahamian ocean. Guests may have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride horses into the ocean for a swim along the shore, creating a unique and engaging excursion. The guide ensures guest safety, comfort, and enjoyment throughout the adventure, providing information about horses, the terrain, and promoting a friendly environment for riders of all skill levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome guests and conduct scheduled tours following established scripts.
- Deliver clear instructions and guidance to ensure guests have a positive and engaging experience.
- Offer interesting commentary, share fun facts, and encourage guest interaction during tours.
- Monitor participants and respond promptly to any questions or concerns.
- Facilitate guest completion of satisfaction surveys at the conclusion of tours.
- Promote other available activities or services professionally and courteously.
- Inspect and prepare all tour equipment prior to use, checking for safety and operational condition.
- Maintain, organize, and store equipment securely, reporting any damage or missing items for repair or replacement.
- Enforce safety protocols and conduct safety briefings when necessary, especially around water activities.
- Adhere to environmental policies to protect natural habitats and tour facilities.
- Report identified hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Assist with setup and maintenance of beach or activity areas as needed.
- Support team members during busy times or special events and perform other duties assigned by management to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Basic education or equivalent experience required; additional credentials in hospitality or related fields advantageous.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is mandatory.
- Fluency in English, with strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness is essential, including the ability to lift at least 10 pounds, and to stand or walk on sand for extended durations.
- Capability to ride bikes, operate kayaks and fishing equipment, and handle live animals safely.
- Must not suffer from motion sickness and be able to work under sun exposure for prolonged periods.
- Excellent customer service aptitude, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to outdoor working conditions and stand for long periods when required.
- Detail-oriented with proactive problem-solving abilities, capable of multitasking and prioritizing under deadlines.
- Strong planning and coordination skills for managing shifting responsibilities.
- Flexible to work various shifts as needed at different destinations.
