Job description
About HealthCorps
HealthCorps is a nationwide nonprofit dedicated to enhancing community health by tackling health challenges through innovative programs focused on education, leadership, and service learning. We empower teenagers to become influential agents of change within their families, schools, and neighborhoods. Our mission is rooted in the understanding that limited health education access can contribute to long-term social, emotional, and physical difficulties.
Role Overview
HealthCorps is establishing a new Growth & Strategic Partnerships Division. The Vice President (VP) of Strategic Partnerships & Growth will spearhead this division, serving as the visionary leader, operational driver, and public representative. This multifaceted role involves managing national funder and strategic partnerships, overseeing development efforts, grant administration, fundraising, brand and marketing strategy, and expanding alumni, community, and hub collaborations. A national team and program managers at different hubs will support the execution of this vision.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP will manage their own portfolio of partnerships, collaborate with senior leadership to create and implement strategies that fulfill HealthCorps’ revenue and expansion objectives, and represent the organization externally at donor meetings, funders’ events, and sector conferences. This opportunity suits a mission-driven leader adept at engaging both health executives and marketing teams within the same timeframe, energized by both opportunity identification and operational execution.
Candidates from for-profit and private sectors who have successfully generated revenue, developed partnerships, and crafted compelling brand narratives are especially encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead external relationship management alongside the CEO by fostering and maintaining connections with health systems, corporate sponsors, educational districts, foundations, and community entities.
- Create and implement a thorough partnership strategy encompassing grants, sponsorships, and programmatic collaborations aligned with funder priorities and organizational growth targets.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of potential partnerships from initial contact through qualification.
- Cultivate and deepen relationships with existing partners to enhance loyalty, increase lifetime value, and promote renewals or upgrades.
- Monitor funding trends and changes in funder priorities to ensure HealthCorps stays ahead of industry shifts.
- Manage the full lifecycle of partnership sales for mid-level and emerging prospects, from outreach to closure and implementation.
- Prepare compelling pitches, proposals, and grant applications leveraging HealthCorps’ outcome data to create strong cases for support.
- Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to identify and secure major sponsorships for fundraising events and both national and hub-level programming.
- Maintain partner engagement through exceptional stewardship, reinforcing connection to HealthCorps’ mission and impact.
- Define strategic branding and messaging for HealthCorps, guiding the marketing manager to execute these across digital channels including social media, website, newsletters, and press outreach.
- Develop and lead communication strategies that build awareness and trust among funders, partners, and the wider public.
- Work with program teams to translate validated research outcomes and stories into consistent, persuasive external messages.
- Create partner-oriented materials including decks, impact reports, and communications that reflect organizational quality.
- Represent HealthCorps at conferences, sector gatherings, and media opportunities with CEO and program leadership.
- Establish and nurture local advisory committees connecting HealthCorps with civic, educational, and philanthropic leaders alongside alumni and community managers and program directors.
- Enhance HealthCorps' impact in local markets by partnering with local teams on events, partnership cultivation, and visibility efforts.
- Engage and grow the HealthCorps alumni network as an active, strategic community, connecting them to advisory roles, volunteer services, and local partnerships to broaden reach.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team including a Senior Development Manager, Marketing Manager, part-time Director of Events, and Alumni & Community Manager.
- Function as a player-coach by managing personal partnership accounts while coaching the team to meet revenue and relationship goals.
- Set and monitor KPIs for the division related to pipeline development, revenue, and brand performance, regularly reporting to the CEO and Board.
- Handle the division’s budget and participate in organization-wide strategic planning as part of the leadership team.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 7 years in strategic partnerships, business development, sales, or revenue-focused roles with proven success closing and nurturing high-value relationships. Experience from nonprofit, for-profit, or private sectors welcomed.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams while managing own portfolio simultaneously as a player-coach.
- Strong pitching and presentation skills with comfort in boardrooms, funder meetings, and sales pitches, adept at reading audiences and closing deals.
- Experience guiding brand strategy and overseeing marketing or communications, with ability to convert complex program outcomes into clear, impactful narratives.
- Excellent written communication skills for creating compelling proposals, grant narratives, and impact reports that encourage action.
- Familiarity with health systems, corporate social responsibility, education, or youth-serving fields; experience with health systems or school districts is an asset.
- Entrepreneurial mindset comfortable creating new systems in a fast-growth setting.
- Proficient with CRM tools and employing data-driven methods for pipeline and relationship management.
- Passionate belief in the impact of peer mentorship and committed to health equity and youth development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, public health, communications, marketing, or a related discipline.
- At least 7 years’ relevant experience in business development, strategic partnerships, sales, or revenue leadership.
- Experience managing direct reports and leading cross-functional teams.
- Proven record of successfully closing, growing, and managing partnership portfolios.
- Willingness to travel to HealthCorps hubs, partner locations, and industry events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare, health systems, corporate social responsibility, or youth-serving organizations.
