- Source, negotiate with, and oversee a worldwide vendor network across several regions, balancing speed, pricing, and compliance requirements.
- Work in close partnership with design, merchandising, planning, and buying to sync development timelines and support assortment plans, including off-price programs.
- Create and implement sourcing approaches for both full-price and off-price channels with an emphasis on agility and quick product turnover.
- Manage cost engineering efforts, fabric and trim development, minimum order quantities, and factory capacity planning.
- Make sure suppliers comply with social responsibility standards, testing protocols, and quality expectations, especially those related to children’s product safety.
- Guide, coach, and direct the sourcing and production teams while encouraging teamwork, ownership, and follow-through.
- Monitor market shifts, changes in country of origin, and geopolitical issues that can affect global sourcing decisions.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of experience in global sourcing or production, ideally within kids’ apparel.
- Demonstrated experience sourcing for off-price and value-driven retailers such as TJX, Ross, and Burlington, in addition to full-price accounts.
- Solid understanding of the buying cycle and merchandising workflow, with the ability to collaborate across functions and drive commercial outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of children’s product safety rules, testing requirements, and CPSIA compliance.
- Established supplier relationships in major sourcing regions such as Asia and Central America, plus the ability to negotiate favorable pricing and lead times.
- Strategic, analytical, and solution-oriented, with strong judgment and decision-making ability.
- Proven leadership experience, including team management and development.
- Comfort using PLM systems, cost breakdown analysis, and calendar tracking tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Production, Merchandising, or a related discipline; advanced education is a plus.
