Job description
Overview
This opportunity is being shared for a partner organization, which will handle all applications and subsequent hiring steps. The hiring company is seeking a United States-based Vice President of Operations for a digital agency.
This is a senior executive role within a rapidly expanding digital agency that creates sophisticated websites and web applications for mission-driven clients. The position works closely with the CEO as the operational lead, taking ownership of delivery performance while also shaping the systems, structure, and workplace culture needed for long-term growth. The role combines strategic leadership with day-to-day operational oversight across project delivery, people operations, and business execution. Success in this role means ensuring work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard, while steadily improving profitability and operational effectiveness. In addition to delivery oversight, you will help strengthen the organization’s internal engine through processes, talent systems, and leadership routines that support scale. This role is best suited to a leader who enjoys complex, fast-moving agency environments and wants to have a direct impact on both results and culture.
Key Accountabilities
- Take full ownership of delivery operations for complex website and web application engagements, with responsibility for quality, profitability, and timely completion.
- Manage resource forecasting, capacity allocation, and project staffing so that client demand matches available delivery bandwidth.
- Define and run operating cadences such as planning cycles, leadership meetings, KPI reviews, and execution systems like EOS.
- Create and improve internal workflows, systems, and processes that increase efficiency and make the organization easier to scale.
- Lead talent operations, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and leadership development.
- Monitor core business metrics such as utilization, margins, retention, and pipeline health.
- Provide secondary support to revenue-related functions such as sales, estimating, and business development.
- Work closely with the executive team to turn strategy into action and keep execution accountable across the organization.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is an experienced operations executive with strong exposure to digital agencies or software delivery organizations, particularly those producing complex web platforms or applications. A strong record of leadership, disciplined execution, and agency delivery expertise is essential.
- At least 10 years of experience in operations or senior leadership, including direct partnership with executive leadership such as a CEO or COO.
- Substantial background in a digital agency, web studio, or software consultancy delivering client-facing web applications.
- Demonstrated success managing delivery teams responsible for websites or web applications; experience with Drupal, WordPress, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Experience leading managers and creating scalable operating structures across several teams.
- Solid understanding of project delivery cycles, resource planning, margins, and the financial drivers that affect agency performance.
- Proven ability to design operational systems and drive adoption across the organization.
- Exposure to revenue operations work such as sales, proposals, estimating, or business development in an agency setting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people-development abilities, along with a high level of accountability.
- Experience in a company of roughly 20 to 150 employees is strongly preferred.
Benefits and Compensation
- Total compensation is estimated at $160,000 to $200,000, combining base pay and performance bonus.
- Work arrangement is fully remote or hybrid, with a US-based flexibility requirement.
- Health, dental, and vision coverage are provided with a strong employer contribution.
- A 401(k) retirement plan is available with employer matching.
- Employees receive 20 days of PTO plus 10 company holidays.
- Bonus payouts are tied to both company and individual performance.
- Professional development assistance and training support are included.
- The organization offers a stable, long-tenured, growth-focused environment.
- Working hours are flexible, with structured windows for leadership collaboration.
- The culture emphasizes collaboration, autonomy, and continuous improvement.
