About Scarborough Health Network Foundation

Scarborough Health Network Foundation supports one of Canada's most diverse community teaching health networks, which includes three hospitals and eight satellite sites. The Foundation partners with donors, volunteers, and the public to fund advanced medical technologies and infrastructure, enhancing the Hospital’s mission to provide exceptional healthcare.

Currently, the Foundation is advancing the highly impactful Love, Scarborough marketing and fundraising campaign. This campaign has raised significant awareness, secured major donations, and highlighted healthcare disparities in the region, facilitating considerable growth in staff, events, donations, media exposure, and collaborations.

Role Overview

As the campaign progresses to its next phase, which builds on a milestone of $200 million raised, the Vice President of Marketing and Communications will lead strategic marketing initiatives. Reporting to the President & CEO, this executive will craft and implement comprehensive marketing and communication plans, enhancing the Foundation's visibility, donor engagement, and fundraising achievements. The role is pivotal in positioning the Scarborough Health Network as a premier philanthropic destination across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to all marketing and communications activities within the Foundation.
  • Develop and execute integrated marketing and branding strategies that drive measurable growth in audience, engagement, and fundraising outcomes.
  • Elevate the Foundation’s public profile and deepen relationships with donors, partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership and board members on brand strategy, communication plans, reputation management, and handling sensitive or high-profile issues.
  • Manage external agencies and creative partners to ensure alignment with strategic goals and maximize impact.
  • Leverage digital platforms, media relations, content ecosystems, and data insights to optimize outreach and donor growth.
  • Lead and scale a high-performing marketing team with an inclusive and collaborative management style.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, brand management, or communications, including senior executive roles in complex organizations.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver impactful multi-channel brand campaigns that increase audience engagement and revenue.
  • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills with expertise in writing, editing, and narrative development tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Strong strategic mindset linking marketing efforts to broad organizational objectives and measurable results.
  • Experience advising executive teams and boards on communication, reputation, and crisis management issues.
  • Deep knowledge of digital marketing, media relations, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven performance optimization.
  • Expertise in managing agency partnerships and maximizing resources for creative and digital projects.
  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and serving diverse community needs.
  • Experience with healthcare, philanthropy, or public sector organizations is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation, CRM systems, and collaboration tools such as HubSpot, Asana, Webflow, and Adobe Creative Cloud is desirable.
