Job description

Role overview

This opportunity is for a Vice President of Finance located in the United States. The hiring process is handled by a partner company, which will review applications and manage all next steps.

The role is a senior leadership position within a venture-backed SaaS business that is scaling quickly. You will work closely with the CEO and broader leadership team to set financial direction, strengthen operating discipline, and build the systems needed for long-term expansion.

The position blends strategic leadership with practical execution across capital planning, finance operations, governance, and communication with investors. It is well suited to someone who has helped companies navigate major growth phases and has exposure to IPO or SPAC preparation.

In this role, you will help create the financial transparency, structure, and controls required to support future public-market readiness and responsible growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Shape financial strategy, multi-year planning, and capital strategy so the business can meet growth goals and future liquidity needs.
  • Work with executives on fundraising, investor communication, board updates, and capital markets activities.
  • Prepare the company for IPO or SPAC readiness by putting in place reporting discipline, governance, internal controls, compliance systems, and public-company infrastructure.
  • Manage capitalization records, equity administration, option programs, and ownership tracking with audit-ready accuracy.
  • Expand and improve the finance, accounting, FP&A, and compliance functions to keep pace with company growth.
  • Create forecasting tools, KPI structures, reporting rhythms, and operational processes that support informed decision-making.
  • Oversee financial documentation, audits, regulatory deliverables, and public reporting workflows.
  • Maintain productive relationships with banks, auditors, legal counsel, and institutional investors.
  • Deliver financial analysis, business modeling, and recommendations that support executive decisions.
  • Assist with corporate development work such as M&A evaluation, strategic alliances, and long-range planning.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, including accounting and operational finance staff.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to leadership while reinforcing a culture of accountability and sustainable growth.

Candidate profile

  • Background as a senior finance leader in a venture-backed, high-growth company.
  • Direct involvement in an IPO, SPAC transaction, or another major capital markets event is required.
  • Strong knowledge of capital markets, investor relations, financial reporting, and public-company expectations.
  • Experience creating scalable finance systems, processes, and operating models in startup or growth-stage environments.
  • Comfort balancing strategic planning with hands-on work in a fast-moving organization.
  • Track record of partnering with founders, CEOs, boards, and executive teams.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with investors, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical thinking, and operational execution skills.
  • Ability to succeed in a remote-first setup while maintaining executive presence in the Bay Area and traveling when needed.
  • Exposure to government or regulated markets, hardware or deep-tech settings, and software/SaaS business models is preferred.

Compensation and benefits

  • Competitive executive pay package with a base salary range of $275,000 to $325,000.
  • Equity participation tied to long-term growth and possible IPO outcomes.
  • A competitive and growing benefits program for employees and dependents.
  • Remote-first working model with Bay Area executive collaboration.
  • The chance to play a central role in taking the company toward public markets.
  • Annual company retreats and opportunities for in-person collaboration.
  • Exposure to a market opportunity supported by significant growth in U.S. public funding.
