Job description
Role overview
Ready is at an important inflection point and is hiring a Vice President of Finance to work closely with the CEO and leadership team on the company’s next stage of growth. The position is designed for a finance leader who can create the systems, rigor, and capital planning needed to support meaningful expansion and possible future liquidity events.
This is a highly strategic yet very hands-on role. You will put in place the financial structure required for a venture-backed SaaS company to scale, while also preparing the business for the transparency, controls, and execution expected of a public company.
As VP of Finance, you will help shape Ready’s future by leading capital strategy, investor engagement, financial operations, governance, and IPO preparation. Your work will turn ambitious goals into disciplined execution and help the company scale in a way that earns trust from investors, partners, and regulators.
The role is based in the Bay Area and follows a remote-first working style, but it requires regular travel for executive collaboration, investor meetings, and other important company moments.
Key responsibilities
- Own Ready’s financial strategy and long-term capital planning, including preparation for a targeted SPAC IPO in 2027.
- Maintain full control of the cap table, equity administration, option programs, and investor ownership records, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness.
- Drive IPO and SPAC preparedness, including stronger reporting processes, internal controls, governance, and public-company infrastructure.
- Work alongside the CEO on fundraising, investor relations, and broader capital markets planning.
- Build finance, accounting, FP&A, and compliance capabilities that can support rapid growth.
- Set up forecasting models, KPI frameworks, and operating discipline across the business.
- Prepare S-1 and SPAC materials, audits, and public reporting deliverables.
- Develop and manage relationships with banks, auditors, legal advisors, and institutional investors.
- Support executive decisions with high-quality financial analysis and strategic modeling.
- Contribute to M&A assessment, strategic partnerships, and long-range corporate planning.
- Help strengthen Ready’s leadership culture as a trusted member of the executive team.
- Supervise the existing AP/AR, accounting, and related finance team members.
Experience and qualifications
- Background as a senior finance leader at a venture-backed company.
- Hands-on experience leading, or playing a major leadership role in, an IPO or SPAC transaction.
- Strong grasp of capital markets, investor relations, and public company reporting requirements.
- Experience building and scaling finance operations in a fast-growing startup environment.
- Comfort operating at both strategic and execution levels.
- Proven ability to work closely with founders and executive teams.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with investors, boards, and cross-functional leaders.
- Located in, or willing to relocate to, the San Francisco Bay Area.
Preferred background
- Experience with federal or government-facing markets.
- Exposure to companies selling into regulated or public-sector environments.
- Experience in hardware or deep-tech businesses alongside software or SaaS operations.
- Previous SPAC transaction experience.
About the team and working style
Ready values creative problem-solvers who bring a fresh perspective to a legacy industry. The company looks for people who are humble yet ambitious, knowledgeable yet curious, persistent without being overbearing, and clear in both writing and speech. A comfort with remote work is important, and the team culture is built around a shared mindset and close collaboration.
Compensation and benefits
The position offers a competitive base salary along with meaningful equity upside. The stated salary range is $275,000 to $325,000. Equity is structured at an executive level and aligned with IPO outcomes. Employees and dependents receive competitive, expanding benefits. The company operates remotely but maintains a Bay Area executive presence. This role also offers the opportunity to play a defining part in taking Ready public.
The team gathers in person 1 to 2 times per year for company retreats. The company also aims at a market connected to more than $65B in U.S. grant funding.
Additional notes
This is not a maintenance-focused finance leadership role. Ready is specifically looking for someone who is energized by building systems, scaling operations, and helping take a company public.
The role is based in the United States, with Bay Area, CA listed as the location.
