Role Overview
The Vehicle Field Inspector is responsible for thoroughly inspecting assigned vehicles and creating detailed Condition Reports accurately representing each vehicle’s condition. These vehicles are usually at dealerships but may sometimes be located at company facilities. This role involves travel, strong attention to detail, and effective relationship building with customers. Additional tasks may be assigned to support business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle inspections at various venues including dealerships, physical auctions, and off-site locations.
- Detect, evaluate, and document structural issues, frame conditions, substandard paint jobs, body panel alignments, missing components, and mechanical faults.
- Follow established training, industry best practices, and management instructions for inspections and related documentation.
- Foster robust customer relationships through consistent engagement to meet and exceed expectations.
- Maintain high accuracy to reduce arbitration occurrences.
- Adhere strictly to all relevant safety and health protocols.
- Occasionally locate, start, and maneuver vehicles as directed.
- Undertake miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
- Must be at least 21 years old with dependable transportation and hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Possess a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferably have 1 to 3 years of experience within the automotive sector.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills with resourceful and innovative approaches.
- Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision while contributing to a team environment.
- Capability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Familiarity with web-based applications and automotive inspection technologies is advantageous.
- Highly detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to exceptional customer service.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
- Willingness and capability to work under diverse weather conditions.
- Ability to bend, squat, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended durations.
- Occasional exposure to loud noises and chemicals may occur.
