About the Role
The Valuer for Gold Loan is responsible for ensuring that gold collateral is evaluated accurately and consistently across branches nationwide. The position focuses on checking purity and value, supporting loan disbursals, assisting with audits, training branch teams, and maintaining strict ethical and compliance standards. The role also contributes to customer acquisition and overall operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Core duties
- Assess gold loan applications by using approved valuation methods and tools.
- Carry out detailed testing to determine the purity of pledged gold.
- Help ensure cases are completed and disbursed within the required turnaround time.
- Travel to nearby branches to support stock audits and valuation work.
- Track overdue accounts and assist branches in improving portfolio quality.
- Conduct training for branch employees on gold valuation practices and fraud prevention.
- Maintain complete honesty and avoid any direct or indirect personal benefit from transactions.
- Handle customer reference verification carefully and professionally.
- Protect customer data and prevent confidential information from reaching competitors.
- Follow company policies closely and do not share internal policies outside the organisation.
- Take care of company property issued for work purposes.
Additional responsibilities
- Work with internal stakeholders to keep valuation operations running smoothly.
- Support marketing and customer outreach activities when required.
- Take part in other departmental tasks as and when assigned.
Education
- A full-time graduation degree in any stream from a recognised institution is required.
- A postgraduate qualification in any discipline from a recognised institution is also mentioned.
Experience
At least 2 years of experience in gold valuation or a related role in retail banking or financial services is preferred, ideally within the BFSI sector.
Skills and Attributes
- Sound knowledge of gold purity testing and valuation techniques.
- Strong ethics and a clear commitment to confidentiality.
- Good communication and training delivery skills.
- Willingness to travel and work in field-based conditions.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
