Role overview

The Transportation Operations Center (TOC) acts as the control tower for transportation execution across Amazon’s supply chain. Responsibilities

• Coordinate with external partners such as carriers and vendors, as well as internal teams including retail, finance, software support, and fulfillment centers.
• Retrieve and analyze data from multiple systems, including Excel, Access, SQL, and other data platforms, to support reporting and ad hoc analysis.
• Create or interpret performance metrics that help improve business outcomes.
• Help define business and functional requirements for technology teams responsible for building and enhancing TOC tools and systems.
• Interpret operational trends, assess their business impact, and make practical decisions based on the available data.
• Escalate issues, inconsistencies, or data variances to the appropriate owners and teams, and track them through to closure.
• Manage tasks within strict time limits while meeting important business priorities and measuring completed work.
• Prepare clear written and verbal updates, including narratives on weekly findings, deviations from targets, and review presentations.
• Support customers in a 24x7 operating environment and provide timely responses in real time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical discipline such as computer science, engineering, or statistics.
• Hands-on experience with Excel.
• Exposure to SQL is preferred.
• Ability to understand logistics workflows and transportation operations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfort working with data, trends, and performance metrics.
• Ability to make quick decisions and escalate issues appropriately.
