Overview

Based in London, the Trading Assistant Analyst role supports the Emerging Markets investment team by offering trade and system assistance, serving as the central point of contact for inquiries from counterparties, custodians, and fund accountants. The Emerging Markets team operates across the US, London, and Singapore.

Key Duties

  • Support traders with pre-trade validation such as verifying derivative holdings, cash balances, and settlement location availability.
  • Supervise active investment positions and coordinate trade execution with traders and portfolio managers.
  • Conduct post-trade activities including trade confirmations and providing allocations to brokers both manually and electronically.
  • Collaborate with custodians on trade settlements and liaise with counterparties to resolve discrepancies.
  • Oversee foreign exchange matching and netting ensuring timely settlement to mitigate interest claim risk.
  • Confirm and clear qualifying IRS, CDS, and NDF financial instruments.
  • Assist with onboarding new counterparties, markets, and trading platforms for the trading desk.
  • Monitor currency hedging and trading requirements for other investment teams.
  • Track corporate actions and provide pertinent information to portfolio managers to support election choices.
  • Help with reporting obligations under Dodd Frank and EMIR regulations and ensure adherence to local market rules.
  • Contribute to additional departmental projects and operations as required.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree with a notable academic record.
  • Relevant experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong efficiency and prioritization skills under pressure.
  • Excellent communication abilities with capacity for both independent and collaborative work.
  • Strong quantitative skills and a foundational understanding of financial concepts gained via education or practical experience.
  • Willingness to work extended hours depending on market liquidity.
  • Pursuit of CFA or an equivalent professional qualification is beneficial, though not required.
